Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has taken part in the Summit dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), held in Sofia, Bulgaria. During the plenary session titled, Strengthening regional unity for a stable, secure and sustainable future – 30 years of partnership and progress, the Moldovan PM spoke about the importance of regional cooperation, strengthening security and advancing the European path of Moldova.

The prime minister underlined that SEECP had become an important platform for political dialogue, solidarity and regional ownership, contributing to the strengthening of trust and stability in South-East Europe. Over the years, more SEECP participants have successfully joined the European Union, while others continue to move firmly along this path.

“SEECP has evolved into a pillar of regional ownership, solidarity and political dialogue. Thirty years of SEECP have taught us the value of dialogue. The years ahead must show us the power of solidarity transformed into action. Cooperation stays one of the strongest foundations for building trust and stability in our region,” the prime minister said.

In his speech, the PM also referred to the European path of Moldova, noting that the country had managed to advance despite external interference, hybrid threats, energy pressures and economic difficulties. The prime minister emphasized that European integration was already bringing concrete benefits to citizens, including through the operationalization of the SEPA system (Single Euro Payments Area) and the full implementation of the Roam Like at Home regime, measures that bring citizens, the business community and institutions closer to the European family.

“The European integration is already improving the daily lives of our citizens. Our citizens voted for Europe and we are determined to turn this vote into reality. Our aspiration is clear and unwavering: to become a member state of the European Union and to contribute to a united, safe, prosperous and peaceful Europe,” the prime minister said.

At the same time, the PM toughed upon the security challenges generated by Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and about its effects on the entire region. The Moldovan prime minister condemned the attacks that affect regional security and reaffirmed Moldova’s solidarity with Ukraine and with partners affected by the consequences of the war.

“Resilience cannot be built in isolation. It is built through solidarity, partnership and a shared commitment to our common security. Today, more than ever, we need stronger regional cooperation, deeper connectivity, enhanced energy security and more effective mechanisms to address challenges,” the prime minister added.
