PM has meeting with Austria’s Ambassador to Moldova
The benefits of the Moldovan-Austrian partnership and ways to strengthen cooperation between the two states have been discussed by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Ambassador of Austria Stella Avallone.
The PM expressed gratitude for the support which Moldova is receiving in its process of accession to the European Union, as well as for the support for economic growth – both being priority tasks for the Moldovan government. Austria is among the top ten largest investors in Moldova. Presently, 93 companies with Austrian capital are operating in the country.
During the meeting, Ambassador Stella Avallone noted that an increasing number of Austrian companies were interested in expanding their presence on the Moldovan market in the near future, highlighting the improvement of the investment climate and the reforms carried out in recent years, which enhance the country’s attractiveness for the business environment. The ambassador noted, in particular, the intention of Austrian companies already present on the Romanian market to expand to the market of Moldova as well.
The officials also discussed strengthening cooperation in such areas as education, culture, health, and renewable energy. The geopolitical situation in the region was also addressed, including recent developments in Ukraine – a country that is fighting for the security of the entire European continent. In the context, Prime Minister Munteanu emphasized the prospective role of Moldova as a logistical corridor to facilitate the process of recovery of the neighboring country.
