Moldovan parliament speaker conveys message on Independence Day of Ukraine

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has conveyed a message of congratulations and solidarity to the Ukrainian people, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of Independence. The official emphasized that, for more than four years, Ukrainian citizens had been defending their freedom, sovereignty and right to decide their own future. The message was delivered at the opening of the parliament meeting today.

The speaker noted that, through their struggle, Ukrainian citizens were defending the security of the whole of Europe.

“Today, Ukraine marks 35 years of Independence. Happy Independence Day, Ukraine! Happy Independence Day to the Ukrainian people! We know how difficult is the path of a country that defends its freedom, sovereignty and right to decide its own future. For more than four years, Ukrainians have been fighting every day to defend their independence – theirs and ours. In this process, they are defending the security of the entire Europe,” Igor Grosu said.

The speaker reaffirmed Moldova’s support for Ukraine and promised that the country would stand by it until victory is achieved.

“We, the citizens of Moldova, thank you for the lesson of courage and love of country, even though the sacrifice is far too great. Too many innocent people are dying in an unjust and brutal war. I want you to know that we will continue to support Ukraine in its just fight for freedom and territorial integrity. We stand with the Ukrainian people from day one and until Ukraine prevails. Thank you for your courage, bravery and resilience. Glory to Ukraine!” Igor Grosu remarked.

Ukraine today marks the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of its Independence, in the context of the war launched by the Russian Federation. On this day, President Maia Sandu is on a visit to Kyiv, where European leaders are meeting to reconfirm their support for the Ukrainian people.
