Moldovan president condemns violations of Romanian airspace by Russian drones
President Maia Sandu condemns the repeated violations of Romania’s airspace by Russian drones and expresses her solidarity with Romania.
“Another Russian drone today was shot down over Romania. We condemn Russia’s systematic violations of Romanian airspace — of NATO and EU airspace. We appreciate the professionalism and courage of the Romanian Air Force,” the head of state wrote on the X platform.
Maia Sandu emphasized that Romania’s security is closely linked to the one of Moldova.
“Romania’s security is the security of Moldova. We stand with Romania,” President Maia Sandu also said.
In recent days, Romania has reported more incidents in which drones were intercepted and shot down by F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force. On July 25, at 8:30 a.m., another drone was shot down in the Romanian airspace, approximately 10 kilometers west of the town of Sfantu Gheorghe, in the Danube Delta.
