New government of Moldova might be sworn in on October 31, parliament speaker says
The new government might be heard and voted on October 31, if political consultations and legislative procedures go according to plan. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has made statements to this effect, after a meeting with the leaders of the parliamentary factions.
“Today we have established how many deputy speakers the Parliament will have and how many standing parliamentary commissions will be set up. We quickly agreed to come up with proposals for the members of these committees. On October 30, we will convene the meeting of the standing bureau, in order to decide on the presidents and composition of the standing committees. If everything goes well, on October 31, we will hear the candidate for the position of prime minister and the governance programme,” said Igor Grosu.
The speaker said that, on these days, consultations were taking place in the Parliament with representatives of the civil society, the business environment and the parliamentary factions, in order to finalize the structure of the new government team.
