Speaker: Moldova determined to work diligently to be ready for EU accession in 2028
Moldova is determined to work diligently to be ready for accession to the European Union in 2028. Speaker Igor Grosu made the statement on 28 October at a meeting with Vice President of the European Parliament Victor Negrescu, in Chișinău.
Igor Grosu expressed gratitude for the support provided by the European Union in the country's European path.
"I thanked the Vice President of the European Parliament, Victor Negrescu, for all openness and help that the Republic of Moldova has received from the EU and the European Parliament in recent years. It's a window of opportunity we must not miss. I communicated to the Vice President that Moldova is determined to work diligently to be ready for EU accession in 2028," he said.
Negrescu praised the democratic and transparent manner in which the parliamentary elections in September were conducted, as well as the sustained pace of reforms implemented by the authorities in Chișinău.
The high-ranking official reaffirmed the European Parliament's support for the opening of accession negotiations and the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European Union.
Negrescu is currently on a working visit to Chișinău.
