DOC // Decree on appointment of Alexandru Munteanu as Prime Minister published in Official Journal

The presidential decree designating Alexandru Munteanu as candidate for the position of Prime Minister was published in Official Journal today, marking the beginning of the official process for establishing the new government.

According to the document, the decision follows the head of state's consultations with parliamentary factions. The publication of the decree allows Alexandru Munteanu to formally begin negotiations on forming the government team and developing the activity program to be presented to Parliament for a vote of confidence.


'I wish him success in forming a government that gains the trust of Parliament and fulfills the most important expectations of the citizens: protecting peace, preparing the country for EU accession, strengthening the economy, and raising living standards,' declared Maia Sandu.


The appointment of Alexandru Munteanu marks the beginning of a new political phase, focusing on the continuity of reforms, maintaining stability, and accelerating processes of European integration.

In accordance with constitutional procedure, the designated candidate has 15 days to present Parliament with the list of Cabinet members and the governing program to obtain a vote of confidence.
