Foreign ministry summons Russian ambassador to Chișinău regarding airspace violation by drone
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova has strongly condemned the incident that occurred on the night of November 19, when the country's airspace was illegally flown over by a drone, which came from the direction of Lesnaia, Ukraine, towards the village of Săiți, Ștefan Vodă district.
According to the ministry, the Moldovan authorities consider this incident a severe violation of national sovereignty and a major threat to the security of citizens and regional stability.
In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will summon, on Thursday, November 21, the accredited ambassador of the Russian Federation in Chișinău to convey an official and firm protest of the Moldovan authorities.
The MAE reiterates its call to the Russian Federation to avoid any actions that jeopardize the security of the Republic of Moldova and emphasizes the necessity of strictly respecting the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova announced that, following the exchange of information with partners from Ukraine and Romania, the national airspace's overflight by a drone was confirmed. The aircraft was not detected by airspace monitoring systems due to the low altitude of the flight.
