New hearings in evaluation process: Four anti-corruption prosecutors to be heard this week

The Prosecutors Evaluation Commission has announced the resumption of hearings within the vetting process, involving prosecutors from the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. Four hearings are scheduled for the period 21–23 April this year.

According to the Commission, the first hearing will take place on 21 April, in a closed session, when the case of the prosecutor delegated to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, Stanislav Odajiu, will be examined.

On 22 April, two hearings are planned: at 16:00, anti-corruption prosecutor Iulian Diaconu will be heard, and at 16:30 prosecutor Vasile Plevan will be re-evaluated, in a closed session.

Plevan’s case is a special one, after at the beginning of the year the Commission proposed that he should not pass the external evaluation due to failing to meet the ethical and financial integrity criteria. Subsequently, the Superior Council of Prosecutors rejected the report and ordered the resumption of the evaluation procedure.

The round of hearings will continue on 23 April, when Ion Pripa, deputy chief prosecutor of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, will be heard. This stage marks the completion of the evaluation of the institution’s new leadership, appointed in November 2025.

The hearings will take place at the National Institute of Justice, and all sessions will be recorded and published within at most three days.
