Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu attended the National Reforestation Campaign Autumn 2025 today. The official planted acacia seedlings in Mihailovca, Cimișlia.
The Prime Minister participated in the action alongside colleagues from the Government, ministries, agencies, and all those wishing to get involved in the reforestation campaign.
"Today, we joined the national reforestation campaign Generation of the Forest. Together with colleagues from ministries and agencies, with our families – from young to old – we planted acacia seedlings. I thank the foresters for their efforts to expand the afforested areas, and also the locals, colleagues, and all volunteers who participate in these actions," specified Alexandru Munteanu.
Furthermore, the official urged all citizens to join the planting activities, which will continue over the coming weeks across all regions of the country.
"Through the National Program for Forest Expansion and Rehabilitation, initiated by President Maia Sandu, we aim to plant 145,000 hectares of forest by 2032. In this way, we take care of the future of our children and grandchildren," remarked Alexandru Munteanu.
In the first two years since launching the National Program for Forest Expansion and Rehabilitation, over 15,000 hectares of forest have been planted, with an investment of over 300 million lei. A significant step in expanding this effort is the historic funding agreement signed in 2024 between the Ministry of Environment and the European Investment Bank, valued at 200 million euros. This funding will enable the planting of an additional 63,000 hectares of forest and the development of the necessary infrastructure to ensure the long-term sustainability of this ambitious program.
