VIDEO // Environment Minister: We await you for planting here and all over country

The national reforestation campaign Autumn 2025 began this morning in Mihailovca, Cimișlia. Minister of Environment Gheorghe Hajder invited citizens across the country to participate in the sapling planting actions.

In a video address, the official emphasized that the ministry team is ready for the reforestation campaign proceedings.

“We are starting the campaign all over the country, we are at Mihailovca, everything is prepared. The foresters are ready to instruct all volunteers. We have saplings and all the necessary tools. A fair with forest gifts - honey, seeds, and teas prepared by foresters - is also organized. We await you for planting here and all over the country; you can participate tomorrow as well, so that we contribute to the National Program of Forest Expansion and Rehabilitation,” stated Gheorghe Hajder.

In the village of Mihailovca, Cimișlia district, 27 hectares of new forest will be planted. In parallel, planting actions will take place in all districts of the country, providing each citizen the opportunity to participate.

Interested citizens are encouraged to check the official website of Moldsilva Agency, where a dedicated campaign section is available. There, they will find a list of all planting locations in each district and the contact details of the responsible persons. The agency will provide the saplings, land preparation, and necessary logistics for all volunteers.

The autumn 2025 reforestation campaign is part of the National Forest Expansion and Rehabilitation Program #GenerationForest, initiated by President Maia Sandu, through which 145,000 hectares of land will be planted in the country by 2032.

In the first two years since the launch of the National Forest Expansion and Rehabilitation Program, over 15,000 hectares of forest have been planted, with an investment of over 300 million lei. A significant step in expanding this effort is the historical financing agreement signed in 2024 between the Ministry of Environment and the European Investment Bank, worth 200 million euros. This financing will allow the planting of another 63,000 hectares of forest and the development of the necessary infrastructure to ensure the long-term sustainability of this ambitious program.

This year's campaign will consolidate the progress made in previous years and will continue the strategic objective of the Republic of Moldova to have a sustainable forest fund, balanced ecologically and economically, contributing at the same time to achieving the climate and sustainable development targets assumed nationally and internationally.
