Dozens of medals and new world records for Moldovan athletes at World Triathlon Championship in Rome

Athletes from Moldova won numerous gold, silver and bronze medals at World  Triathlon Championship held in Rome, setting new world records.

In the senior category, Dumitru Calmic became the world champion in squats, Vladimir Milciuc won gold in bench press, and Stanislav Reaboi excelled in deadlifts. Also on the podium were Igor Fuscalciuc, world vice-champion in deadlifts, and Petru Balabanu, silver medalist in squats.

Among juniors, the world championship title was claimed by Nichita Gumeniuc and Eugeniu Zastinceanu in squats, while Grigore Bunduchi earned bronze in deadlifts.

The youth category delivered remarkable results, with world records. Dorin Nistor won gold in squats (125 kg) and deadlifts (260 kg), setting five world records. Ivan Usturoi became the world champion in deadlifts (192.5 kg), with a new world record. Mihai Toma won gold in bench press (145 kg) and deadlifts (175 kg), setting four world records. In the female division, Elena Bondarenco became world champion in squats (80 kg) and deadlifts (103 kg), with two world records.

In the masters category, Ruslan Matcovschi became world champion in bench press, Eugeniu Tocaci in squats, and Victor Ciobanu in bench press. Lilian Cebanciuc earned silver in deadlifts.
