Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/- Chisinau hosted a forum titled, "Health and social and economic development in Moldova: from policies to joint actions," which brought together over 400 participants, the government’s communication and media relations service has reported. Attending the event, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said the forum had an important role in working out state policies in the field. “By everything the government has done over last years, we proved that health is a priority to us. I assure you it will be like this from now on as well," he noted.
“The
participants in the forum contributed to elaborating the European strategy Health 2020 – European framework of policies needed to back actions focused on
health and welfare of people. This is a result that was possible due to the
involvement of decision makers at national and local levels from different
sectors in a transparent dialogue on reforms in health sector and about
contribution and role of each social actor in this process”, he said.
Leanca
thanked the partners who backed modernization of health system in Moldova,
pointing out the World Health Organisation, EU Delegation to Moldova and Swiss
Development and Cooperation Agency, in this context.
“Our task is to ensure the citizens’ access to quality health services, as well as honourable
working conditions for all health care workers from Moldova. Our goal is that medical employees have wages comparable to the European standards, and the same European standards should be found in the services provided to people," the
premier said.
The premier
noted that the government would focus its priorities on the four functions of the
health system, defined by the WHO: management, financing, services and
resources.
Leanca added an element the reformed health system should benefit from – confidence of
the people in services provided by doctors. “People welcome and enjoy the
progress in Moldovan medical system. At the same time, there are still
complaints in society in connection with informal payments. The Health Ministry
launched a campaign to this end, but we need your support, dear doctors,
because, without this support, we will not be able to remove these risks and to
ensure confidence of people in the health care system,” he said.
This is the
third issue of the forum. Launched in 2012, it has become a platform of debates
on health care system development in Moldova, a generator of ideas, which is subsequently materialized in policies and strategies.
The event
will be held on 24 October as well. It brings together representatives of the health care sector, local public administration and other ministries, foreign
development partners, embassies and consulates accredited to Moldova, as
well as civil society.
