EU earmarks money to help Moldovans start business

Chisinau, 11 December /MOLDPRES/- The European Union has earmarked two million euros to help Moldovans returning home from abroad start business. A project on strengthening capacities to manage migration in Moldova was completed in Chisinau today.

Project manager Per Lindberg told a today's news conference that the money had been spent to hold two large awareness campaigns on living and legal work in EU. At the same time, a guide on business development, a new classifier of professions in Moldova, in line with European standards, have been elaborated.

“A new draft law on employment, also in accordance with the EU standards, was created too. The document is to be adopted by the parliament in 2015”, he said.

A gateway, www.din.md, was launched within the project, which lasted two years and half. The site provides Moldovans returning home with information in such sectors as: health care, education, labour market and starting business. At the same time, three electronic job fairs were held, with over 17,000 visitors recorded.

“The website: www.stagii.gov.md, launched for the Moldovan students studying abroad, registered over 150 probations set in the first two weeks after the launch alone. At the same time, occupational standards were worked out in such sectors as: constructions, information technologies and transport”, Per Lindberg noted.

The findings of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS, in 2014), there are about 340,000 Moldovans abroad. At the same time, almost one thousand Moldovans returned home during one year.
