Chisinau, 1 July /MOLDPRES/- Moldova and the Czech Republic signed a protocol on economic cooperation in Chisinau today.

The document was signed after two days of work of the Moldovan-Czech commission for economic cooperation at intergovernmental level. The protocol's goal was to identify measures due to contribute to boosting economic cooperation between Moldova and the Czech Republic.

Acting Deputy Economics Minister Octavian Calmic noted that once the protocol signed, an efficient dialogue on all economic problems of regional importance would be maintained, in the context of implementing the Moldova-EU Free Trade Agreement. "The Czech Republic is a reliable partner of Moldova and we have more projects implemented together. Under this protocol, we are set to consolidate the cooperation relations in the infrastructure, standardisation, metrology, conformity assessment, sectors, etc. Also, we rely on an exchange of good practices and technologies of production in different branches of the economy", Calmic said.

For his part, Czech Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Eduard Muricky confirmed willingness to back Moldova within more development programmes. "We want enhanced cooperation relations in more sectors and we have opportunities for projects on waste-water management, solid waste management, developing and implementation of Wine Register, etc", he said.

The Czech Republic is one of main economic partners of Moldova from the EU. Moldova is part of the five priority countries selected by the Czech government for foreign development cooperation in 2011-2017. The programme is carried out via the Czech Development Agency.
