Chisinau, 4 December /MOLDPRES/- Representatives of the “Parlamentul-90” (Parliament-90) civil association gave a news conference today to voice their discontent with Moldova’s current social-political situation.
The former MPs of the 90’s Moldovan parliament submitted more claims to the current legislative body, and unveiled a resolution to this effect.
“Moldova’s bad situation has gone disastrous. Therefore, we demand that the Constitution be modified in order to allow the election of the president by direct popular vote and the lift of the parliamentary immunity, excepting political statements, as well as the introduction of some additional functions needed to ensure the balance of state powers,” the secretary of the association, Nicolae Misail said.
Besides that, the former MPs requested that heads of state institutions in charge of monitoring the legality and well-functioning of the banking system be dismissed. According to them, it is necessary to work out an action plan, with persons in charge and deadlines, in order to refund the stolen billions.
The representatives of “Parlamentul-90” association believe Moldova is more than ever in need of political and economic stability, order, discipline and responsibility.
“We address to the representatives of the civil society and all the citizens, to take attitude towards the situation in the country and keep their civic activism within legal limits, moral norms and common sense. We urge foreign partners to further back Moldova’s EU integration course, but at the same time, to stop offering support to its politicians and state authorities who discredited the European idea,” Misail said.
The “Parlamentul-90” civil association was created in 2001, with almost 150 former MPs of Moldova's first democratically elected parliament.
