Moldovan cabinet approves national action plan to implement Moldova-EU Association Agreement in 2017-2019

Chisinau, 28 December /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet today approved a national action plan on the implementation of the Moldova – European Union Association Agreement in 2017-2019. The document sets the principal measures due to be undertaken by the authorities to fulfill the commitments taken before European institutions, including concerning the adjusting the national legislation to the EU acquis, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.    

Touching upon the importance of the concerned draft, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said that it represented a map of the cabinet’s priorities for the next three years. The PM also said that the draft’s implementation would ensure Moldova’s advancement in its European integration, chosen as strategic orientation of the country. “I am happy that we end the year on an ascendant trend and on the European dimension. The encouraging and appreciation messages by high European officials should turn us more mobilized and more organized in 2017. I thank all those who worked on the elaboration of this action plan,” the prime minister stressed.  

Under the decision, the Justice Ministry’s Legislation Harmonization Centre is appointed in charge of carrying out measures of transposing EU’s legislation; the Foreign and European Integration Ministry remains the general coordinator of the Association Agreement’s implementation and the Economics Ministry will be competent with the implementation of the provisions on facilitating the trade.

At the same time, a mechanism of reporting on the actions provided for in the Plan has been adjusted. The reporting is to be made in electronic format, through the online platform www.monitorizare.gov. The authorities will have to submit the information in printed form only in case of two reportings out of four ones.   

The spending for carrying out the Plan will be covered from the state budget and assistance provided by the development partners, especially the European Union.

The Moldova – European Union Association Agreement was signed on 27 June 2014 and entered into force on 1 July 2016.
