OSCE to contribute to boosting talks on Transnistrian conflict settlement

Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Lilian Darii today met Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Transnistrian Settlement Wolf Dietrich Heim, on his first official visit to Moldova on 17-20 January, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.   

At the meeting, the sides exchanged opinions on priorities set by the Austrian OSCE chairmanship concerning the promotion of the Transnistrian conflict settlement process. Lilian Darii reiterated Moldovan authorities’ willingness to further contribute to achieving the goals set. He voiced hope that, on the period of its mandate, the Austrian OSCE chairmanship would help ensure a positive dynamic in the five-plus-two negotiations process.  

For his part, the special representative stressed the firm commitment of the OSCE chairmanship to contribute to fostering the political negotiations and the confidence building measures, in order to identify a comprehensive and sustainable solution to the Transnistrian problem, based on the observance of Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and adoption of a special status for Transnistria.

On visit to Moldova, the special representative of the OSCE chairmanship will also meet Parliament Speaker Adrian Candu, Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Gheorghe Balan. On 19 January, the special representative will go to Tiraspol.
