Chisinau, 19 January /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament’s working group with the popular assembly (local parliament) of the Autonomous Territorial Unit (UTA) of Gagauzia will resume its activity immediately after Comrat appoints new members to the group. Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu discussed priorities as regards UTA Gagauzia with a team of experts of the Crisis Management Initiative (CMI) organization, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

“The 2016 year was one of establishing communication and opportunities, both for the parliament and the popular assembly. The working group’s report for 2016 shows the results recorded, which can be developed in 2017. Presently, there are four draft legislative acts proposed by the group, which are under legislative procedure,” Andrian Candu said.

The experts said the parliament would continue benefitting from CMI’s support in the dialogue with Gagauzia, with a schedule of joint actions for 2017 due to be approved.

At the meeting, the officials exchanged opinions on the situation in the Transnistrian region. Adrian Candu said he was planning to discuss with President Igor Dodon on the Transnistrian file, in order to establish how the parliament would cooperate with the presidency in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process.
