Turkey to back Moldova in reforming standardization, quality infrastructure sector

Chisinau, 18 April /MOLDPRES/ - The Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) will soon propose for implementation to colleagues from Moldova several joint projects in the quality infrastructure and standardization sector, which will eventually allow providing the residents with quality services. TSE President Sebahittin Korkmaz  made statements to this effect at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic in Chisinau today.     

According to the Economics Ministry’s press service, the TSE president thanked the Moldovan authorities for support provided to organize the 26th meeting of the General Assembly of the Interregional Standardization Association (IRSA), due in Chisinau on 19-21 April. Sebahittin Korkmaz also said that, by organizing this meeting, Moldova established new cooperation ties with partners from other states, would have access to various funds, earmarked by IRSA to implement programmes on modernization and reformation in the standardization and quality efficiency field.  

For his part, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic welcomed the interest of the Turkish Standards Institute to establish cooperation relations with specialized institutions from Moldova, including by carrying out investment and other kind of projects in the concerned sector. He voiced confidence that the meeting of the General Assembly of the Interregional Standardization Association would give an impetus to developing these relations. “Moldova is interested in the development of bilateral relations with Turkey in all sectors, as the experience of the Turkish partners allows carrying out more important projects in the national economy, establishing new mutually advantageous partnership contacts for both states,” the deputy prime minister said. 

The participants in the General Assembly of the Interregional Standardization Association will discuss the impact of the activities of supervising and inspection on the world trade. Over 40 representatives of the member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Albania and Turkey will participate in the meeting. Moldova has been member of this organization since its foundation in 1991.
