Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/- Extraordinary meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) has been canceled for the third time this week, due to the lack of quorum.

Thus, attending the meeting were only members of Socialists faction, a Communist and an independent counselor, in total 17 counselors. It requires the presence of 26 counselors out of a total of 51 for the meeting to take place.

Socialists faction in CMC member Stanislav Vartanian said that “the situation on further activity of the Chisinau city hall is a critical one, as without acting secretary of CMC, employees’ wages will not be paid, as well as other financial procedures. The garbage situation is also a critical one, which needs urgent decisions. If colleagues do not attend meetings, it means they have hidden conversations about new secretary of CMC, they are afraid of being detained by anti-corruption officers or have not yet got instructions to come to work”, Vartanian said.

At the same time, the Socialist advisers announced they would collect 17 signatures of the councilors required to convene an emergency meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council.

Leader of Liberals faction in CMC Ion Cebanu did not answer the phone, and wrote on a social network that “Socialists’ attempts to convene the CMC meeting are in fact attempts to get hold of the capital”.

At the today’s meeting were to be discussed issues related to appointment of acting secretary of CMC, assignment of authorizations with the right of signature for payment of wage and other payments, storage of waste and urgent liquidation of natural disasters of 20-21 April 2017 in Chisinau.
