Moldova participates in Global Forum on Remittances, Investment and Development-2017

Chisinau, 16 June /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Daniela Morari paid a visit to New York on 15-16 June 2017. The official participated in a Global Forum on Remittances, Investment and Development-2017, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media relations service has reported.

The official held a bilateral meeting with new Special Representative of UN Secretary General for International Migration Louise Arbour. They discussed progress and initiatives taken by Moldova in migration, mobility and development, as well as the country’s participation in the activities of the Global Forum for Migration and Development. The UN official welcomed the developments and comprehensive approach of Chisinau in the migration under the EU-Moldova Mobility Partnership, as well as the national efforts made to direct the impact of migration on the country’s development.

The officials expressed their openness for strengthening cooperation in migration and development, including Moldova’s participation in the dialogue for the elaboration of the Global Compact on Migration and implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

Note: Moldova co-chaired the round table “Tools and safeguards for policy coherence – identifying right policy balance for compatibility of various interests and goals”, is a member of the governmental teams within other four roundtables, as well as speaker within the Platform for Partnerships. At the same time, Moldova is also a member of the ad-hoc working group for implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the field of migration.
