Chisinau, 06 July /MOLDPRES/ – Domestic wastes from Chisinau will be transported since 06 July to the polygon of Tintareni village, Anenii Noi district. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Pavel Filip today after a joint meeting with Nistor Grozavu, Deputy Mayor of Chisinau, and Mayor of Tintareni, Ina Pascan.

Premier Pavel Filip said at a press conference that the City Hall of Chisinau undertook more actions for Tintareni locality, and the Government would monitor implementation of the promised commitments. "During this period, we had discussions in order to find solutions for the given problem, and the Government's role was to help the Chisinau City Hall to overcome this crisis situation. The mayor has come up with very concrete requirements, over-exaggerated, but a respect for the defence of human rights. However, it was decided for locality to benefit by six million lei yearly to solve the problems of local interest, such as the consolidation of the dam near the waste, but also the liquidation of unauthorized waste dumps in the locality," said Filip.

"The water treatment plant will also be rehabilitated, street lighting will be commissioned, roads will be repaired, a detour road will be constructed, a forest strip will be planted and a fence will be built by the place where the waste is to be stored. Also, a health centre will be built in the commune, kindergartens will be provided, and children will be provided with free rest camp sheets," said Filip.

At his part, the mayor of Tintareni, Ina Pascan, stated that "the decision on the storage of waste in the commune was a very complicated one, because in over 30 years the town was ignored by the municipality, so people no longer trust the given promises. We hope that this time the promises will be assumed responsibly and the commitments will be respected. Similarly, we have established that the waste will be brought to the locality for two and a half years, until a waste polygon is built according to European standards," said Pascan.

Also, Deputy Mayor Nistor Grozavu said that if the garbage lot opens under the stipulated conditions, the commune would only gain. "I assure you that all the commitments will be fulfilled starting these days," said Grozavu.

The City Hall decided to allocate about 40 million lei to Tintareni village to restore the polygon near the locality and to compensate for the discomfort caused by the waste disposal. The money will be allocated from the increase of the tariff to the waste disposal service.
