Moldovan speaker expresses condolences, compassion to victims of attacks in Barcelona, Cambrils

Chisinau, 18 August /MOLDPRES/ – Parliament Speaker, Andrian Candu, sent his counterpart Pío García-Escudero, Speaker of the Spanish Senate, and Ana Maria Pastor Julian, President of the Congress of MPs, letters of condolences in connection with the terrorist attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils on 17 August,  the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

"I was grieved to learn about the terrorist attack in Barcelona, ​​which killed the lives of innocent people, and injured many dozen people. My thoughts are with the families and relatives of the deceased victims, those who are now fighting for life. In this hour of sorrow and pain I want to wish for strength and courage. On behalf of my colleagues in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and myself, I express my solidarity in the fight against acts of terrorism and attacks on peaceful people. Please, send sincere condolences and compassion to the mourners of the families", says the President of Parliament.

We remind you that on the afternoon of Thursday, 17 August 2017, a minibus entered the crowd at the La Rambla Boulevard in Barcelona. According to the latest data, there lost their lives 14 people and over 100 were injured, being citizens from 34 countries. The attack was claimed by the Islamic State.

Another attack occurred on the night of 17 – 18 August, in Cambrils, about 120 kilometers southwest of Barcelona. The Spanish police killed five terrorists who entered a vehicle into pedestrians and injured six people, being suspected a linking to the Barcelona attack.
