Chisinau, 26 September /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu has suggested that representatives of the opposition parties nominate a leader who, under the law, will have increased access to institutional information, including   the state secret. The speaker today made statements to this effect, after a weekly meeting of the Moldovan Democratic Party (PDM).

At a news conference, the parliament speaker referred to the protests organized by the opposition. “It seems that the left-wing and right-wing opposition have already entered a competition: who brings more people to protests and who come up with more terrible or bizarre ideas. I mean the demand to organize snap elections; I inform you that, once we enter the last year before the ordinary parliamentary polls, the snap polls cannot take place, according to the Constitution. The opposition is idealess, but maybe because of the lack of information; therefore, we suggest that the opposition parties nominate a leader, so that the governance, under the law, as well as following legislative amendments, gives possibility to communicate, to learn more information, including access to the state secret,” Candu said.

At the same time, the speaker said that the Dignity and Truth Platform Party had refused the governance’s proposal to have access to the institutional processes. “We do not make partnership between the opposition and power, but only a possibility for the opposition to learn more information, notice how certain decisions are taken, and thus to get involved in the governance act, not directly, but in everything deals with the structure of the state and state institutions from Moldova. The offer has been made. We hope that they will have the needed wisdom and political maturity, so that the opposition political parties find way of communication, in order to nominate a leader of the opposition. We guarantee that, under law, he/she will be given possibility to participate in certain processes and access to information,” Candu said.

The Democratic Party last week informed that it was considering more possibilities to give the opposition mechanisms of access to some institutional platforms or to working bodies, so that it is better informed and consolidated.
