Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/- Cabinet members today held a joint meeting to synchronize the agendas and priorities of the government and parliament for the next period.

The meeting was chaired by the Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and Prime Minister Pavel Filip who have made a review of the achievements and arrears of the roadmap of both institutions.

“Our goal is to verify the impact of the approved rules, as well as the implementation of the roadmap on the priority reform agenda and the legislative plan on implementing the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. The standing committees have already worked out a weekly hearing plan and we will approve the document at the next meeting”, Candu said.

The speaker noted that the 11 arrears of the plan had been discussed at the meeting. These include the appointment of the National Integrity Agency’s management. At the same time, Candu called for compliance with the approval deadlines, taking into account the examination procedure in parliament, and urged ministers to communicate more intensely with members of parliamentary committees.

Filip pointed out that such meetings help speed up adopting measures to modernize Moldova, in the context of external agreements and commitments. Thus, he said that next month the upgrading of the National Action Plan for implementation of the Association Agreement with EU by 2019 will be initiated. He stated that it is important to keep pace with the implementation of the agreement.

“In the first half of this year, we achieved 67 per cent of the action plan”, Filip said.

The premier came up with some clarification about the 100-million-euro macro-financial assistance from the EU for which Moldova has to fulfill 28 conditions. “To get the first installment of funding, we have the task to fulfill 10 conditions, of which the last four are under implementation”, he said.

The heads of parliamentary committees and cabinet members today discussed the progress and certain difficulties in the implementation of the roadmap on the priority reform agenda in the second half of 2017, as well as the legislative plan on implementing the EU-Moldova Association Agreement for 2017. Also, they analyzed the implementation of commitments to the International Monetary Fund and set the priorities for the next period in the government-parliament joint agenda.

Traditionally, the parliament and government convene in joint meeting at the beginning of parliamentary sessions.
