Chisinau, 11 January /MOLDPRES/ – Eight localities in four districts of Moldova have been partially disconnected from electricity after strong snowfalls on 10 January night. The announcement was made today by the director of the National Energy Regulatory Agency, Tudor Copaci, during the session of the crisis cell organised in the context of bad weather conditions.

According to quoted source, there were short stops in the north in the morning. "At the same time, there have been more disconnections in the centre and south. One problem is that mobile teams are getting harder to transformation points due to snow. Especially, to the places situated on the hills. However, there are not registered big problems, and the brigades are working fast," said Copaci.

Interviewed by agency, Head of Foreign Relations and Communication of RED Union Fenosa, Vasile Gribincea, said the disconnections were registered around 07:00. "There are two settlements in Criuleni, Orhei, Cahul and Cimislia. The disconnections were caused by the snow falling on the conductors and causing the tears. The teams work on spots to address the shortcomings," said Gribincea.

At the same time, the deputy mayor, Nistor Grozavu, announced that "there were no disconnections in electric or thermal networks in Chisinau."

In difficult weather conditions, RED Union Fenosa warns economic agents and population to comply with security rules in relation to electrical installations. The institution representatives recommend people to bypass electric conductors accidentally dropped to the ground and hanging suspects on pillars or trees; to mark the place of electrical conductors and to guard it until the electricians intervene to restrict the access of people and domestic animals to the area of risk of electric shock; not to interfere with electrical installations because these actions can endanger life.
