Museum from Moldova awarded Order of Cultural Merit of Romania

Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau-based National Museum of Romanian Literature, led by writer Maria Sleahtitchi, today was awarded the Order of Cultural Merit, in rank of Knight, Category A – Literature, awarded by Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis.   

The high distinction was offered on the occasion of the National Culture Day, as a token of appreciation of the efforts made by the team of this institution to preserve alive the Romanian literature in Moldova and to take care of the literary memory of the common Romanian cultural space.   

Attending the event, Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan said that the National Museum of Romanian Literature from Chisinau was among the few specialized institutions which, when it had been created almost 60 years ago, it started from the scratch. And a titanic work was needed, in order to gather those more than 100,000 exhibits of the museum, which presently represent its heritage, and to adjust them to the rigours of the times. The official congratulated the museum’s employees on the distinction and encouraged them to continue with the same self-denial the noble mission of preservation and promotion of the Romanian literature, so that institution remains an important hotbed of the Romanian culture in Moldova.       

„At the same time, we took advantage of the presence of Mr. Sergiu Nistor, presidential adviser in Bucharest, and Ambassador of Romania to Moldova Cristian-Leon Turcanu, in order to repeatedly thank Romania for every support provided to Moldova. Romania is a reliable helping hand, on which we know that we can rely in the political and economic sectors, as well as to fulfill the exceptional cultural initiatives, which get us closer and reconnect us in the spiritual field. We this create natural bridges for a natural brotherly relation,’’ Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan said.
