Ambassador of Russia summoned at Moldova's Foreign Affairs Ministry

Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/ - Ambassador of Russia to Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov today was summoned at the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE).

According to the institution, ‘’the protest was expressed to the ambassador about the opening of polling stations in the Transnistrian region, contrary to MAE’s request.’’

„Russia defies the norms and principles of the international law and undermines the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova. The Foreign Affairs Ministry continues to evaluate the situation and will additionally inform about other reactions necessary,’’ the institution said.

The decision on the summoning of the Russian official was taken, after information had appeared in the public space on the opening of more polling stations in the Transnistrian region for the presidential elections due in Russia, scheduled for 17 March.
