Moldovan speaker meets Latvian PM, president

Chisinau, March 26. /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu discussed in Riga with President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs and Prime Minister Evika Siliņa. The talks focused on the European path of our country and Latvian support in the modernization of the Republic of Moldova, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

"Latvia's experience will further help us carry out those necessary reforms that will bring us even closer to the EU and become more connected to Europe," he said. Grosu thanked the official for the full support given by Latvia to our country in the European path - obtaining the status of a candidate country and opening negotiations for Moldova's accession to the European Union.

The discussion with Evika Siliņa concerned the reforms implemented by our country, in particular the full implementation of the recommendations set by the European Commission. Grosu reiterated the determination to advance on the European path, noting that Latvian support is important in the modernization, implementation of reforms and strengthening institutions.
