Investment opportunities of Moldova, new cooperation projects on Moldovan deputy PM's agenda during visit to Austria

The investment opportunities of Moldova, the strengthening of the Moldovan–Austrian economic relations and the development of new bilateral cooperation projects have been the main topics discussed during a visit to Austria by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugeniu Osmochescu.

In Vienna, the official had meetings with Austrian officials, representatives of economic institutions and the business community. The discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in strategic areas, such as industry, energy, transport, logistics, technologies and digitalization.

The competitive advantages of Moldova, developments in the European integration process and measures aimed at creating a modern, transparent and attractive business environment for investors were analyzed at meeting with Federal Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism of Austria Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer.

Also, during meetings with representatives of the Austrian business community, including Christoph Neumayer, Secretary General of the Federation of Austrian Industries, Igor Sekardi, Managing Director and Director for International Affairs and Markets at the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, as well as representatives of the companies Gebauer & Griller and OMV, the sides examined opportunities for collaboration, attracting investment and developing sustainable partnerships between the business communities of the two countries.

An important moment of the visit was Deputy Prime Minister Eugeniu Osmochescu’s meeting with Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Gerd Müller, during which the Country Partnership Programme for Moldova 2026–2032 was signed.

The programme establishes the strategic cooperation framework between Moldova and UNIDO, in order to support sustainable industrial development, enhance the competitiveness of enterprises, promote the green and digital transition, develop skills and support small and medium-sized enterprises.

According to data by Economic Development and Digitalization Ministry, Austria is one of the important economic partners of Moldova. Over 90 companies with Austrian capital operate on the Moldovan market and Austrian investments contribute to the development of strategic sectors of the national economy.
