ARMENPRESS: Armenia, U.S. enter unprecedented phase in ties - FM
Armenia and the United States have entered an unprecedented phase in their bilateral relations, as the two countries elevate their strategic partnership to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and expand cooperation across a wide range of areas, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said after signing multiple bilateral documents with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Mirzoyan noted that Rubio’s visit to Yerevan reflects the commitment of both countries to consistently strengthening their relations.
“Our comprehensive strategic relations between our two countries are stronger today than ever before. It would not be an exaggeration to say that we have entered a historically unprecedented phase, given the frequent developments on our bilateral agenda,” Mirzoyan said.
According to him, one of the key events was the peace summit held in Washington on August 8, 2025, hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The summit, he said, made it possible to establish peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as to reach agreements on unblocking regional communications.
The Foreign Minister also noted that in January 2026 in Washington, he and Secretary Rubio signed a document on the framework for the implementation of the TRIPP project, and that now in Yerevan an interstate agreement has been initialed.
According to him, Armenia and the United States have already signed commitments in the fields of AI, semiconductors, and nuclear energy, and a new document has also been signed on critical minerals and rare earths.
Mirzoyan also highlighted the transformation of the strategic partnership format.
“Together with Secretary Rubio, we elevated our strategic partnership to a new level just a short while ago by renaming it a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” he said.
According to the Foreign Minister, the new framework has been enriched with additional opportunities, particularly in artificial intelligence and other areas of cooperation.
Mirzoyan also highly praised the role of the Trump administration in the process of establishing peace in the South Caucasus.
“I want to once again emphasize and highly appreciate the role and dedication of President Trump and his entire administration, Secretary Rubio and all others, in the process of establishing peace in the South Caucasus and in creating not only security but also new economic opportunities for Armenia,” he said.
