Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu today met Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark Søren Jensen. The officials discussed the European path of Moldova and the reforms implemented by the government to ensure economic growth and improve the living standards of the citizens.

The PM thanked the Danish authorities for their support in achieving the national goal of European integration, highlighting the Moldova-Denmark collaboration in the fields of security, combating disinformation, as well as in the energy sector.

This year, Denmark allocated over 5 million euros to help Moldovans pay their energy invoices and financially supported the launch of the new electronic identity card. Also, this year, Denmark announced a new technical assistance programme worth 20 million euros. The funds were directed towards the defense sector, cybersecurity, protection against hybrid attacks, emergency management and supporting the institutions of Moldova in the process of preparing for EU accession.

The officials also discussed the attractive environment that Moldova offers to investors, highlighting the opportunities to attract Danish businesspeople to the  country. One of the sectors in which Danish entrepreneurs have already invested is the agricultural industry – a pork production company operates in Moldova. At the same time, next week, representatives of ten companies from Denmark will come to Chisinau to establish contacts with Moldovan entrepreneurs.

Among the potential collaboration areas, the officials highlighted the IT industry, tourism infrastructure and the digitalization of the healthcare sector. Also, the Danish side is open to cooperation in waste management and renewable energy - areas in which Denmark is recognized as a European leader.
