Germany will provide Moldova with an additional 24.4 million euros in grant, in order to support the process of joining the EU and modernizing the country. German Ambassador to Moldova Hubert Knirsch has made statements to this effect, during a meeting with Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.
The agreements for receiving the funding are to be negotiated and signed in the upcoming period. Germany will offer 14.4 million euros in technical assistance, in order to support the accession process, build a strong and innovative economy and technical cooperation for improving local services, projects implemented by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ). Another ten million euros will be allocated for the project, Protection of children and access to water, sanitation, hygiene, health, and social services for Ukrainian refugees and host communities in Moldova, implemented by the German Development Bank KfW and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
The PM thanked for this additional support, highlighting Germany's significant contribution to the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund, which covers energy compensations.
The two officials discussed opportunities to expand economic collaboration, as Germany is one of Moldova's main trade partners and investors. The sides welcomed organization of the Germany-Romania-Moldova Business Forum, set to take place on November 27 in Stuttgart and bring together business communities from the three countries.
