DOC // Presidential decree on appointment of new Cabinet of Ministers published in Official Journal

The decree by President Maia Sandu on appointment of the new Cabinet of Ministers led by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu was published in the Official Journal today.

Also it published the Parliament's decision to approve the Government's activity program and to grant the vote of confidence to the Government, as well as the Legislature's decision to approve the list of ministries.

Thus, in the new Government's activity program, it is stipulated that the Republic of Moldova is entering a stage of profound transformation aimed at completing the process of European integration. According to the document, after years of reforms and institutional strengthening, the mission of the new Government is for the integration to bring tangible benefits to the people – major investments for a competitive economy, well-paid jobs, accessible public services, and a responsive state that meets the real needs of society, even before actual accession.

According to the decisions published in the Official Journal, the new Government has 14 ministries and five deputy prime ministers, including two without portfolio.

Cristina Gherasimov remains as Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, and Valeriu Chiveri is Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration. The other three deputy prime ministers will be Mihai Popșoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, and Eugen Osmochescu, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization.

Vladislav Cojuhari is the new Minister of Justice, Andrian Gavrilița takes over the Ministry of Finance, and Natalia Plugaru will lead the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. Emil Ceban will head the Ministry of Health, Gheorghe Hajder will be in charge of the Ministry of Environment, and Cristian Jardan will serve as Minister of Culture.

The position of Minister of Energy will continue to be held by Dorin Junghietu. Dan Perciun will retain his post as Minister of Education, while Ludmila Catlabuga remains at the helm of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. The Ministry of Internal Affairs will continue to be led by Daniella-Misail Nichitin, and the Ministry of Defense by Anatolie Nosatîi.

Munteanu Cabinet was supported by 55 members of the PAS parliamentary majority, following a marathon session of the Parliament, over eight hours, during which the designated prime minister presented the new Executive's priorities and answered the deputies' questions.

Based on the vote given by the deputies, the new Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Moldova, led by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu took the oath of office on 1 November at the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova in the presence of head of state Maia Sandu and speaker Igor Grosu.
