Foreign affairs minister meets Austria’s Ambassador to Moldova

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi today had a meeting with Ambassador of Austria to Moldova Stella Avallone, on the occasion of the conclusion of her diplomatic mission in the country. The two officials discussed the evolution of the Moldovan-Austrian relations and highlighted the positive dynamics of the bilateral political dialogue in recent years, including at presidential, governmental, parliamentary and ministerial levels.

During the discussion, they sides noted the strengthening of cooperation in such areas as the economy, education, culture, local development, resilience and security.

“We appreciate the significant contribution of Ambassador Stella Avallone to the strengthening bilateral relations. Austria has been and stays a reliable partner of Moldova and the support provided for our European agenda and for the modernization of the country is particularly valuable,” said Mihai Popsoi.

The Moldovan diplomacy head emphasized the concrete impact of projects carried out with Austria’s support, including the development of the Austrian School in  Moldova, the initiatives of the Austrian Development Agency and the expansion of Austrian investments in the national economy. He also noted that Austria had been among the most important foreign investors in Moldova in recent years.

For her part, Ambassador Stella Avallone reiterated Austria’s support for the European path of Moldova. She expressed her intention to remain involved in projects and initiatives dedicated to Moldovan-Austrian cooperation, including after the end of her diplomatic mission.

Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi thanked Ambassador Stella Avallone for her work in Moldova and for her personal contribution to the development of the bilateral relations.
