Alexei Buzu at UN Forum in New York: Sustainable development means resilient, equitable Moldova with opportunities

The Republic of Moldova reaffirms its commitment to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals and continuing reforms that improve citizens’ lives. The message was delivered at the UN by Secretary General of the Government Alexei Buzu during the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, held in New York.

In his address, Alexei Buzu presented the challenges faced by the Republic of Moldova, as well as the efforts of the authorities to continue reforms in key areas such as education, health, social protection, and the development of quality public services.

“Sustainable development means, above all, caring for people and their future. In a period marked by uncertainty and crises, sustainable development is not just an international commitment. It is about how we build a more resilient, more equitable Moldova with more opportunities for everyone. This is the objective that must guide us in every decision,” said Alexei Buzu.

The High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development is the main mechanism of the United Nations for monitoring the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Organized annually in New York under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the event offers participating states a platform to present progress made, exchange good practices, and identify the solutions needed to accelerate sustainable development at the global level.
