Moldovan students,' pupils' scholarships to be indexed by 4.6 per cent
The scholarships of the pupils and student will be indexed by 4.6 per cent. The decision was approved by the government today and aims to stimulate academic performance.
“We are adjusting the value of scholarships to the inflation of the previous year; thus, we are talking about a 4.6-per cent increase in the value of scholarships, a measure that we believe will contribute to attracting a larger number of students to our country,” said Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun at the government meeting.
According to the document, performance scholarships and special scholarships for gifted pupils from republican boarding high schools with arts profiles, as well as for students in grades IV-IX of the National Choreography College, will be adjusted.
At the same time, the study scholarships will be increased for students in higher education (cycle I, cycle II, integrated studies, medical and pharmaceutical education), as well as for students in post-secondary, non-tertiary post-secondary, and secondary technical vocational education. The scholarships provided in the military and public order fields, as well as merit scholarships will be indexed too.
The Ministry of Education and Research noted that the indexing of scholarships did not require additional financial resources, as the State Budget Law for the 2025 year has already allocated additional funds of 17.26 million lei on this purpose.
There are 16 higher education institutions, including 12 public and four private institutions, in Moldova. The number of students in higher education institutions has reached 58.9 thousand in the current academic year.
