Soroca celebrates Europe Day: European Village invites citizens to discover EU’s cultural diversity, values and traditions

The European Village was inaugurated today in the center of Soroca. EU member states will share their history, cultural and culinary traditions here. The celebration will culminate in the evening with a concert featuring local artists.

Within the European Village, 14 embassies of EU member states have prepared games for children, contests for visitors of all ages, traditional dishes, as well as dances and songs representative of their national folklore.

At the Energy Resilience Pavilion, visitors will discover how the support of the European Union has helped strengthen the energy security of the Republic of Moldova, reduce dependencies, diversify energy sources, promote energy efficiency, and support vulnerable households during difficult periods.

In addition, 13 projects financed by the European Union will be presented in fields such as education, environmental protection, entrepreneurship, social inclusion, energy efficiency, digitalization, and the resilience of local communities.

Citizens will also be able to visit the State Chancellery Pavilion, the Soroca City Hall Pavilion, and the Public Debates Area, where Ionela Hadârcă will talk with visitors and offer the book “The Price of the Smile.” Participants will also discover inspirational life stories and will be able to interact with the Fathers’ Club.

Since 2011, Europe Day has been celebrated in several localities across the country, with the aim of informing citizens in all regions about the values of the European Union, as well as the benefits offered by integration into the European community. All these activities bring the citizens of the Republic of Moldova closer to the specific characteristics and traditions of EU member states.
