Moldova, Turkey seek to expand joint projects in culture, tourism
The expansion of cooperation between Moldova and Turkey in the fields of culture, heritage and tourism has been discussed at a meeting between Ambassador of Moldova to Turkey Oleg Serebrian and Turkey’s Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.
According to the Embassy of Moldova in Ankara, the talks focused on perspectives for developing bilateral relations in the cultural and tourism sectors, highlighting the potential of joint projects between the two states.
A separate topic was the promotion of cultural exchanges through support for translation and publication programmes for literary works from Moldova and Turkey. This initiative is expected to contribute to a better mutual understanding of the cultural and literary heritage of the two peoples.
The sides also discussed the possibility of organizing Turkish film festivals in Moldova and Moldovan film festivals in Turkey, projects that would promote contemporary cinema and bilateral cultural dialogue.
During the meeting, Ambassador Oleg Serebrian also underlined the importance of supporting cultural institutions in the Gagauz autonomy, including the National Theatre “D. Tanasoglo.” The diplomat highlighted the role of this institution in promoting the Gagauz language and culture and expressed interest in developing joint projects in this field.
At the end of the discussions, the two sides agreed to maintain an active dialogue and to support the implementation of joint cultural initiatives.
The diplomatic relations between Moldova and Turkey were established on February 3, 1992.
