Meeting of Monitoring Committee of Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme held in Moldovan capital

Moldova hosted the fourth meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin 2021–2027 Programme in Chisinau on June 10. The event brought together representatives of the participating states, the European Commission, the Managing Authority and the Joint Secretariat.

The participants in the meeting reviewed the progress made in contracting the projects selected under the second call for proposals, the implementation status of the ongoing projects, the financial situation of the Programme, as well as the results of its evaluation. They also presented examples of projects and results achieved by Interreg funding beneficiaries.

The Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme is an important instrument of European territorial cooperation, supporting sustainable development, strengthening community resilience and cross-border cooperation between the states in the Black Sea region.

As the National Authority for Interreg programmes, the State Chancellery reaffirmed Moldova’s commitment to actively contribute to the implementation of the Programme and to strengthen partnerships between institutions and organizations in the region.

At the same time, the Moldovan capital on June 11 hosted the first meeting dedicated to the programming process of the future Interreg Black Sea Basin 2028–2034 Programme. The meeting marked the launch of discussions on the priorities, structure and strategic directions of cooperation for the next programming period.

Presently, under the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin 2021–2027 Programme, 23 beneficiaries from Moldova are contracted, implementing projects with a total value of approximately 5.7 million euros. These projects contribute to enhancing regional cooperation, environmental protection, strengthening community resilience and promoting innovation in the Black Sea region.
