Moldova national football team debuts at 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

The Moldova national football team today is debuting at the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in a match against Norway at the Zimbru Stadium. The head of state has conveyed a message of support for the Moldovan footballers.

"This evening, Moldova's national football team is debuting in the qualification campaign for the 2026 World Cup, in a match against Norway. In recent years, the national team has showed that football has the power to unite us and make us proud of our country. I wish the players and the team's coach, Serghei Clescenco, great success at this match," President Maia Sandu wrote on her Facebook account.


The match against Norway in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers started at 19:00 at Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau and is broadcast live on the public television channel Moldova1.

The Moldovan footballers play against Norway on March 22, and on March 25, Moldova’s team will face Estonia in the first matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, notes fmf.md.
