Germany to provide Moldova with 6 million euros

Chisinau, 28 December /MOLDPRES/- Germany will provide Moldova with 6 million euros to implement projects on the economic and social economic development, according to an agreement signed between the two governments today.

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur said that the money would be earmarked for modernizing the local public services (2 million euros), advising the Prime Minister in economic development (1 million euros) and increasing quality and efficiency in medical sector (3 million euros).

“The money will be useful for modernizing and reforming Moldova. I express my gratitude to the German government for intense and productive bilateral cooperation,” Galbur said.

For his part, German Ambassador to Chisinau Ulrike Knotz said the German people backed Moldova’s development since getting independence, and “the cornerstone of bilateral cooperation was made by implementing financing for agriculture projects.”

“We want to improve the living conditions of the people and to back the country in the reforms. Key areas of our cooperation are utilities and sustainable development of the Moldovan economy, especially, at regional and local level,” Knotz said.

At the same time, the official handed an agreement on providing 10 million euros for Moldova, meant to extend the project on water supply of settlements from the south. The money will be offered as a grant and will not be reported directly to the state budget, but will be managed by two German agencies for implementing financial resources.
