Moldovan economics ministry, investments, exports promotion organization set objectives for 2017

Chisinau, 03 March /MOLDPRES/ – Improving business climate, boosting foreign investment and local development investition projects, accessing new markets are the main priorities of the Ministry of Economy and of Moldova Investment and Export Promotion Organization (MIEPO) in 2017.

Deputy Economics Minister Vitalie Iurcu announced today at a press conference that it would be focus on implementing the strategy for attracting investments to promote exports 2016 – 2020, implementation of regulatory reform that would eliminate administrative and regulatory barriers and facilitate attracting investments. It is also planned to launch one-stop shop for permission acts, implementation of the National Strategy for Development of small and middle-sozed enterprises (SMEs), measures on increasing competitiveness, further fulfillment of commitments under the Free Trade Agreement with EU.

"We will continue improving the legal framework governing functioning of industrial parks, remove the barriers faced by companies managing industrial parks and residents of areas related to the expansion, privatization, real estate, construction related within them," said Vitalie Iurcu. Deputy Economics Minister added that the facilities would be implemented on optimization of state controls, increasing the responsibility of traders to implementation of investment projects.

It will be open College of Engineering in Straseni city, as a public institution with technical vocational education that will train about 250 specialists annually (initially in 2017 – about 50 specialists) for large industrial projects.

Director of MIEPO Vitalie Zaharia said, at his turn, that for 2017 his organization had a budget for program "Export Promotion" management totaling over 30 million lei. These resources will be used for a range of actions to attract, maintain and develop export promotion and investment, including participation in 20 exhibitions and international fairs in five countries, so as to attract foreign investors and 19 exhibitions and international fairs in 14 states dedicated to promoting domestic exports. Moldova's investment opportunities will be promoted to about 20 investment Forums organized in Moldova and about 10 abroad.

Also, MIEPO will organize events establishing potential partnerships between local companies and buyers of wholesale abroad, conduct market research sector, carry out actions to strengthen economic diplomacy and export capacity of domestic producers (Academy of Exporters, training courses for Moldovan commercial attaches abroad, Diplomatic Economic Club).

Similar to previous years, this year too, these actions are performed by MIEPO with the support and active cooperation with development partners, including Project of Advice the Government on Economic Reform, Component "Investment Attraction" funded by GIZ, Project of Competitiveness Enhancement II, World Bank, Project of competitiveness in Moldova, funded by USAID, Association of Businessmen of Moldova and Association of European Business Moldova.
