Chisinau, 17 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today attended a ceremony on the handing of master diplomas to the 19th series of graduates of the Academy of Public Administration, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

At the event, the prime minister congratulated the graduates of the institution, stressing the important role of the civil servant in carrying out the reforms initiated by the cabinet. “The quality of the graduates of this Academy is directly proportional with the one of the teacher and the quality of services and the citizens’ well-being is directly proportional with the capacity of the public administration. Even if we have worked out concepts of reforms in more sectors, the fundamental reform implemented in Moldova is the one of the public administration,” Pavel Filip said.

The PM informed the graduates about the need to reform the public administration, both the central and local ones, stressing that a competent public administration represented the foundation for the country’s development. Filip also said that the reform had started from the State Chancellery, would continue with the one of the government, local public administration and will end with the administrative and territorial reform.

In the context, the prime minister emphasized that the cabinet took efforts to enhance the attractiveness and competitiveness of the civil service, in order to attract the best professionals to elaborate and implement the state’s policies. “I strongly believe that civil servants, the ones who are part of the public administration can change the things. You will have to learn in continuation, every day and I suggest that, by applying the gained knowledge, we together change Moldova for the better,” the prime minister added.

The Academy of Public Administration was founded in 1993 and has 5,000 graduates. At the same time, over 37,000 civil servants participated in courses of training and professional qualification at the institution.
