International Francophonie Day marked in Moldova

Chisinau, 21 March /MOLDPRES/ - The International Francophonie Day on 20 March was marked through the organization of a festive concert by the Foreign and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) at the Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic. MAEIE Secretary General Anatol Vangheli and Ambassador of France to Moldova Pascal Vagogne gave official speeches at the event, the MAEIE information and media communication service has reported.      

The two officials evoked the importance of Moldova’s participation in projects and programmes promoted by the Francophonie. 

MAEIE Secretary General Anatol Vangheli highlighted Moldova’s accession to the institutional Francophonie by the creation of opportunities of cooperation and implementation of numerous projects, both in the cultural and social and education sectors. Vangheli stressed the Francophonie’s role in facilitating the communication between nations and strengthening the feeling of affiliation to a common area, dominated by values of democracy and tolerance. “Moldova’s diplomacy fully shares the universal values of the Francophonie – freedom, cultural diversity, respect for human rights, peace and sustainable development – and backs the efforts of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) to promote democracy, stability and economic development in the Francophone space,” the official noted.   

For his part, French Ambassador to Moldova Pascal Vagogne welcomed the ascendant dynamic of Moldova’s cooperation within the Francophonie, in the context of the 20th anniversary of the country’s accession to the institutional Francophonie. The diplomat also emphasized the participation of Culture Minister Monica Babuc in the last OIF Summit in Madagascar.
