It was also recorded some damages in village Telita, Anenii Noi district, where 1 km of local road was disintegrated, and in villages Puhoi and Tipala, Ialoveni district, several hectares of agricultural crops were affected by floods.

The recent heavy rain washed the plunge from several railroad sections, some local train routes being canceled.

Interviewed by the Agency, Vasile Sarban, head of the Policy Department for production, processing and quality control of vegetable products of the MAIA, said that agricultural specialists were working to assess the damage caused by heavy rains of 13 May.

"After last week heavy rain, nearly 100 hectares of agricultural land were flooded. In village Carabetovca, Basarabeasca district, several lots came under water after the Cogilnic river came out of the banks. The incident happened because the water drainage channels were not cleaned in time," said Sarban. He added that the MAIA had previously asked farmers and local authorities to clean the river drainage channels to prevent similar situations.
