Moldovan parliament approves grant Agreement with Japan

Chisinau, 02 June /MOLDPRES/ – The Republic of Moldova will receive a grant of $ 4.8 million for conservation agriculture from Japan. The Parliament ratified an agreement on it today.

According to the agreement, non-reimbursable funding of $ 4.8 million will be used for the purchase of agricultural machinery and equipment.

The project will be managed by the current Implementation and Management Unit of 2KR Food Production Project, the implementation period being two years from the Agreement’s date of entry into force.

The conservation agriculture is a priority of Moldova, stipulated in the National Strategy for Agricultural and Rural Development for 2014-2020. That requires the development of sustainable agriculture, adapted to climate changes, by applying practices that protect and improve soil fertility.
