Watercolor exhibition by fine artist Ion Moraru
Master watercolorist, graphic artist and illustrator Ion Moraru has returned to the Republic of Moldova with a personal exhibition inaugurated at Constantin Brâncuși Exhibition Center in Chisinau. Ion Moraru was awarded Mihail Grecu medal for promoting national culture and his valuable contribution to fine arts.
The event brought to the public a retrospective of the Moldovan artist's work, spanning over five decades and a remarkable international track record. Ion Moraru has illustrated over 50 books and participated in prestigious exhibitions in New York, Miami, Geneva and Brussels, with his works featured in state collections in the USA, France, China, Israel and other countries.
"The message of my exhibition is simple – as many steps towards beauty as possible. Each piece holds special meaning for me, each color represents tomorrow, the zest for life and the drive to create. My works are born in my studio, where there is always tranquility and an atmosphere of inspiration," he said.
In appreciation of his outstanding merits in promoting national culture and his valuable contribution to fine arts, the artist was awarded Mihail Grecu medal.
"This exhibition is a retrospective of the master's watercolor works. His merits can be discussed endlessly, as he has brought international fame to our country. The exhibition is also a gesture of gratitude for his entire career and exceptional qualities," President of the Fine Artists Union of Moldova Florina Breazu said.
Attending the event was also fine artist Alexei Colâbneac, who highlighted the importance of the event."We are attending an event of high artistic standing. Today, Ion Moraru is among the most appreciated professional fine artists, both domestically and abroad, thanks to his numerous exhibitions and the recognition he enjoys," Alexei Colâbneac said.
Born in 1950 in Ocnița district, Ion Moraru is a member of AIAP–UNESCO and holder of the Silver Medal for innovation in watercolor, awarded in Brussels in 1997. His exhibition in Chisinau is an invitation to rediscover color, sensitivity and artistic refinement.
