The Steinway & Sons concert piano, model D-274, has been inaugurated at the Organ Hall. This world-class instrument was purchased with the support of Moldova’s Ministry of Culture and the Foundation for Development and Support of Social Initiatives ALT. The event was marked by a recital given by pianists Polina Osetinskaya and Martina Meola, two renowned names on the international music stage.

The purchase of the piano, valued at over 4 million lei, was possible thanks to funding provided by the Ministry of Culture. Minister Sergiu Prodan highlighted the importance of this investment for future generations.

‘’In the history of Moldova, this purchase is the first of its kind. We made this acquisition of over 4 million lei, as we need a generation that knows how to cherish and care for a piano. The acquisition of this jewel of musical excellence is just the beginning of a partnership in the name of culture and it reaffirms our commitment to stages which deserve to provide artists with instruments that maximize their talent. We hope this piano will inspire artists and delight the audience with exceptional concerts,’’ Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan said at the opening of the event.

Aliona Grosu, the administrator of the ALT Foundation, said that the Organ Hall was a Temple of Culture and the new acquisition would attract musicians from all over the world.

‘’The Organ Hall is a Temple of Culture. Talents not only from Moldova, but also from abroad have graced this stage. Through this acquisition, we create the necessary conditions to bring musicians from all over the world.'

The representative of the Organ Hall said that since 1978, the stage had become a global benchmark and renowned pianists had dreamed of an instrument that meets international standards.

‘’Since 1978, we've closely monitored the acquisition of a concert piano. Although interest has increased significantly in recent years, this stage has become a beacon for artists worldwide. Renowned pianists have dreamed of an instrument which meets the highest international standards, meeting the demands and expectations of the greatest piano virtuosos.’’

The inauguration ceremony included a recital by two exceptional pianists: Polina Osetinskaya, an artist acclaimed on major international stages, and Martina Meola, a young pianist from Moldova, already recognized for her promising talent.

The inauguration of this piano marks the beginning of a new age for concert music of Moldova, providing invited pianists and passionate audiences with a sound experience at the highest level.
